Help needed for SVP 8.0 Megapixel camera

Jun 17, 2005 8:54AM PDT

Hey !

I bought my camera, a SVP 8.0 Megapixel, on ebay about 2 months ago.

I can?t get it to work together with my laptop.

When installing the driver for the camera I get following message on my screen.....

1.: The software you are trying to install has not pass the testcontrol for compatilites
of windows XP, it requieres that the product can carry the windows logo for XP.

If you continue installation of the software, the system will be unstabel bla.bla.bla. and will not work correctly.

Then I have the opportunities to choose between continue anyway or cancel.

When choosing continue anyway, InstallShield wizard tells me, that the software is installed. " Then finish "
So far so good...........

New soft Mr. Photo.: Installing

During installation of Mr.Photo a window appear with following question.
This setup will install Windows Media Format 9 Series runtimes files.Do you want to continue ????
My answer is yes

It seems that everything is going well, because after a while I get the message, that tells me that the installation
is completed.

Settings..

After installation I get some question about settings. To this I choose Yes to all.
And yes to restart my computer too.

When trying to import the pictures from camera to presto, I got the message that no devices are detected, and that the TWAIN
driver can not be started.???

I have searched allover the internet for this driver but can?t find it.

Nb. As long as I can?t import the immage from the camera to the pc it is useless.

Please help me someone.

Regards Anna E.

SVP cameras

SVP makes a number of cameras that are advertised as 8 megapixels, so I can't guess which one you have.

Be aware.....the camera is not 8 megapixels.
Most likely it is actually 3 megapixels.
It is 8 megapixels "interpolated".

There is very little information available on SVP cameras. Most of these cameras are made by "no-name" companies in Taiwan and Mainland China.

I suggest you go to the SVP (Silicon Valley Peripherals) website and try your question there.

Cheers for SPYWARE!
Jun 18, 2005 12:43AM PDT

The very first SPYWARE I ran into was bundled with Mr. PHOTO with a low end camera. After I installed Mr. Photo my internet connection slowed to a crawl.

It took some doing to figure it out since SPYWARE was not in the mainstream consciousness yet and the tools didn't exist.

I'd approach MR. PHOTO with skepticism if I found it today.

Well it appears that SVP is not going to support that camera or the software that comes with it.

So you might start with the software company that makes Mr Photo software.

Here is a link to a tutorial for Mr Photo:

http://www.newsoftinc.com/tutorial/tutorial-main.asp

I notice that they have a "Tech Support" button near the top of the page. You could try that too.

.......................

If that doesn't work, the only solution I know is to buy a card reader that can read the type of memory card that is used in that camera.

That way you don't have to connect the camera to the computer at all.
