Help needed fixing a WD HDD

Jun 28, 2018 3:22PM PDT

Last time I took my case apart to take out my cooler so I could clean it off, I might have accidentally knocked off a cable from my WD 500GB drive and now it won't get past the boot up when I turn the pc on. It keeps making a strange noise and won't let the pc boot normally. Is there a way to fix this hdd?

Thanks in advance!

HDD repair is rarely done.

Be sure the power cable is on as well as both ends of the data cable. If that fails, try a new drive.

Put a boot able dvd or usb stick in the machine.

Point the bios at that device.

Does the machine boot?
