Help my files disapeared

May 31, 2007 3:32AM PDT

I'm using windows xp service pack 2 and I have a mac formatted hard drive wich i open with macdrive software.
I was orginizing my files and I moved one folder to another foler then I got an error message then all my files dissapeared.
When I go to properties it sais there is used space on the hard drive(the same amount of space there was before) so I think the files are still there I just can't see them.
I tried enabeling "view hidden files or folders" but that didn't help, I also tried searching all the drives on the computer for the files that were on the drive but that didnt help either.
please help I really need those files ASAP!

Those disappeared files are ...

on the mac formatted drive you handle with macdrive software? Then you might have a problem.

I suppose you DO have a backup of files you "really need"? Use that.

Now back on the MAC use your DISK WARRIOR to see if it can fix it.

FAT32 Formatting?
May 31, 2007 4:11AM PDT

Is the problem drive an external drive or is the actual XP boot drive?

If FAT32, and IF the drive is the boot drive, and if you have a floppy drive as well, you might be able to access it from a XP bootdisk command prompt and copy/paste the files to a floppy.. It would take a long time and wouldn't get larger files but it's an option.

Do you use the drive for transferring files to a MAC as well? If not, I prefer formatting the drive using Windows XP in NTFS formatting.. Generally, it's a little more secure..

Of course, as with all extremely important files, I'm sure you created a backup disc... Correct? You should be able to use those.

The only other option would be to contact a disc recovery compatible.

Hope this helps.
