First off see if there is an update for the software, drivers etc., on the manufacturer's site. As to the replacement cartridge(s), it is typically best to use OEM rather than aftermarket units. First things first, see if there is a downloadable update for your OS, Win 7 64 and go from there.
I have a vintage Samsung CLP 500N and I tried to connect it for the first time to my HP Laptop with Windows 7 64 Bit. The printing printed in color but then it said that my Yellow cartridge is empty. I got a replacement but that one seems to be a fake cartridge. It doesn't have the normal label stickers on them so it is probably fake. The stickers on them look weird. What happens to printers if you put a fake cartridge inside it?
Also, ever since I did that, the printer printed half of the image in black and white but the areas where there should be colour didn't print anything at all. I put the old yellow cartridge back inside it and now it prints in color but it is wrong. Sometimes it printed with a yellow tint, and sometimes it printed with a red tint, but it is usually printing with a blue tint. Usually it appears to print with the black and blue (cyan) cartridges but it doesn't seem to be using the yellow and magenta cartridges! These cartridges are full and OEM. except for the yellow one: I have an empty OEM yellow cartridge and a full fake yellow cartridge.
No error messages.
Why is my printer malfunctioning?!
