HELP MEEEEEEEEEEE.

Oct 2, 2007 10:21AM PDT

Ok so I just got a virus on my computer [ 2002 Compaq Windows XP ] and so I told a friend and he got me the Windows Vista cd. So I put the cd in and i selected the custom install where it deletes everything and makes your computer clean [ so it takes the viruses off]. So it is pretty much like a restore cd for me. And after it was done installing i set up my username and password and then it did the performance check to see how fast my pc was or w/e. And after it was done with that it went to the login page and after about 10 seconds it automaticlly said Shutting down. So i took the cd out really fast and when my comp restarted it said somthing memory not found and boot invalid or and booting from windows C. and then it goes to the loading bar screen and the bar gets to the end and then thats where it stops. The computer does not want to go anywhere from there. SO WHAT DO I DO????????????? HELP ME PLEASEEE.

Oh and i also reinstalled everything and did not take out the cd this time and the same problem still came up.

So please tell me what the problem is and what I should do.

To begin with a virus scan would have removed the Virus, in most cases. You did not need to install Vista. We'll get back to this later.

Do you have a working Operating System on Your computer? Does Vista work at least part of the time?

well after the virus was installed i couldnt do anything and my antivirus program was expired.

but after vista intstalled it went to the login screen for like 10 seconds and i could not log in because it said Shutting Off and then after it restarted i couldnt get back to the login screen
the reboot did not work i think cuz it said somthing about memory and the reboot was invalid so would it be a memory problem.?

and BTW im upgrading to Vista Ultimate and i only have 512mb of RAM on my comp so would that be the problem

So you

have Vista installed but your having troubled logging on to the net. Right? Are you having any problems before you log on?

Vista will not work with every computer only the most modern. I has very high hardware requirements. If you can down load this software...Vista Upgrade Advisor. From this site:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradeadvisor.mspx?wt_svl=20409a&mg_id=20409b
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradeadvisor.mspx?wt_svl=20409a&mg_id=20409b

Then run it, it will tell you what hardware you need. I doubt if you can run Vista. For starters you need two Giga bits of RAM not MBs. You might want to reinstall XP.

Vista Requires MORE of Everything...

It appears like you haven't checked the requirements for Vista... The results you've seen are simply Vista telling you it won't run on your system.. You need a big video card, big processor, more RAM, probably a BIOS update, and a few other things..

A Suggestion... As long as you have the Recovery discs for your computer, performing a recovery with them will also reformat the drive and reinstall the system as it came from the factory. If you don't have the Recovery Discs, contact Compaq and purchase them.. They're normally fairly inexpensive AS LONG AS they are still avaiable. If not, you'll need to purchase a new operating system disc.

Hope this helps.
