Help me! Trying to install XP/Vista software on to Windows 7

Sep 29, 2010 4:46PM PDT

I just bought a new laptop and went to install the software for my printer on to it, but it's not working since the software/printer is a few years old. I would hate to think I need to get a whole new printer because of this. Any suggestions for getting the software CD to install on to Windows 7? thanks

I'm also having problems w/software not running on Windows 7

I tried sfc/scannow from the CMD prompt, but there were no errors detected. I am trying to run software that ran fine on XP, but Windows 7 timer pops up and nothing happens. Any suggestions from the CNET community?

As To Printer Software...

Try checking the printer manufacturer's website to see if there are updates to the driver software making it Windows 7 compatible.. Most such software can be installed in "Windows XP Mode" but if you're not able to do so, then a new printer may be the answer.

Hope this helps.
