RE:

PSU-Thermaltake W0022 ATX 12V Power Supply 480 Watts i think.

Motherboard-Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI nForce 4 SLI Audio/GB-LAN/PCI-E/USB/IEEE/SATA/DDR/ATX-182/

RAM- Not best available from monarch, but its okay.

Hard drive- Might want to get bigger hard drive and a SATA one.

Floppy-No media card reader?

Sound Card- SOund Blaster Audigy 2ZS should be all rite no need gamers.

Graphics Card- Got to have PCI-Express. Recommend 2x evga 6800 GT

Also, i assume you have keyboard, mouse, speaker, and monitor right. A budget would be helpful. The motherboard doesn't have to be sli nor does the graphics card, but PCI-Express is something i think you should have. To add on PCI-Express motherboard and graphics card, look to spend approx. $100 more, which i think is a sound investment.

you could build it cheaper

also
please don't say Thermaltake is better than Antec
Antec is a far and away better company
i'd suggest the Antec 480W NeoPower over the TruePower though

Suggestions....

Hi Pookyman,

Just now reading your post. It seems you are trying to stay on a budget and not get an all out competition gaming machine, but one fairly close and your selections are pretty good except for one major IMO, and that is the motherboard. Apparently you are looking at Monarch's setup for the "Monarch Furia (929 54/FX)Custom", and need to scroll just a little further down. Go to this page

http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=M&Category_Code=allcustom

and scroll to Monarch Furia (929 54/FX) Custom Desktops w/PCI-E(click on it).

PCI-Express technology will soon be on all computers and PCI-Express graphic cards will be replacing AGP. You can get a motherboard with PCI-E for about the same ($132) price as the one you selected. Look at the Asus A8V-E Deluxe with PCI-E for $135. If your budget allows, go for the future where you may later install 2 PCI-Express video cards, by getting the motherboard just above the $135...the ASUS A8N-SLI NForce4 SLI with PCI-E for $158.

Roger had some other good suggestions.

Get the PCI-E video card rather than AGP. Card #190325 eVGA GeForce 6600GT PCI-E for $182 (saving $8 eh)

You may need a "Molex" connector to connect the video card to the power supply ($8.95). Ask the Monarch rep.

The Antec 480Watt Power Supply you selected is OK.

Floppy Drive, like Roger indicates..get the Mitsumi 7-in-1 USB Card Reader with Floppy Drive, $17 or for black $25.

Sound Card, like Roger indicates, the #180329 is OK and save $25.

Hard Drive....well my 100MB on one PC is almost full. Go for at least 120MB or more instead of 80MB, if budget will allow.

Good luck and keep us posted.

is it worth it? would it make the mobo burn out faster?

Mobo burn out faster....

Not with one video card on the dual board, should be just like any other with proper cooling. Now, who knows with two cards since it is so new. I would think it generates double the heat, requiring more cooling. Prehaps the new builders thought of this..recall reading about Nvidia giving considerations of heat in the dual board. Myself, I would not get the dual board as I am not into bragging about a powerful gaming computer and will never be into competition gaming.

Sound Card?

I'm now decding on getting the Asus A8V Deluxe (v. 2.0)instead of the Abit AV8. How does the sound sound on the A8V? And will I need a sound card?
