Gwingee, About The CNET ActiveX Warnings..
Sep 7, 2005 12:23AM PDT

Generally, it occurs with Internet Explorer if you've got the security settings adjusted so a "prompt" warning is displayed every time ActiveX is engaged. Still, there should be a setting in Norton that stops the ActiveX warnings. You'll just need to look.

Because Firefox doesn't run ActiveX, you shouldn't have a problem when using Firefox.

Also, McAfee and Firefox work fine together. They aren't incompatible...It's just that the automatic updater in McAfee's newest online versions works better when Internet Explorer is the default browser. Besides, there IS a free plugin available which should allow Firefox to work when set up as the default browser.
