Help Me Pick My New Camera Please...

Jan 20, 2011 9:58AM PST

I have narrowed it to these cameras:

Nikon Coolpix S8100
Nikon Coolpix L110
Canon PowerShot SX130 IS
Olympus SP-600 UZ
Olympus SP-800 UZ

I really want a camera with a nice zoom. I take lots of pictures of people and animals. I really am looking for a camera that takes really sharp and realistic photos. Video is just an added bonus for me. The most important thing for me is picture quality. I want nice bright vivid real colors.

Any help would be appreciated.

"want nice bright vivid real colors"

"looking for a camera that takes really sharp and realistic photos"

That is a problem.

The camera makers strive to produce accurate colors.
Vivid colors are seldom accurate or natural.
Most photographic manipulation software programs will let you make a photo more vivid.
That is done by changing the "saturation".

However it has long been noticed that Kodak sets their cameras for more saturation than normal. This does give a vivid appearance.

I suggest you look at some of the Kodak "Z" models.
The Kodak Z915 produces excellent sharp photos.
The Z915 has been replaced but is still available at Amazon and other on-line stores.
You can find it for about $150.

Thanks so much Snapshot. I will look into that camera as well as some other Kodak models. Any other responses will also be welcome.
