then do a restore from safe mode to an earlier point. Sometimes its best to go backwards rather than forwards compounding mistakes and creating more conditions.
Otherwise get a Virus CD or Boot floppy and do your scan outside of windows to clean things up. Virus like to rename key modules and when they get deleted it can cause problems. You may need to do a repair from your windows CD or possibly a full restore if its gone too far.
From safe mode you can at least salvage your key files before doing so.
My computer has been locking up like crazy lately. A couple of weeks ago my antivirus subscription ran out and like an idiot I hadn't updated it yet. I had received a link to an online gaming website and I felt like it possible gave me a virus or spyware. So I downloaded a temporary quick fix antivirus until I bought mine. But I started realizing my computer was running slow. I did a deletion of some programs I don't use anymore and some spyware I found. That helped a little bit but on Friday I was deleting one program and I had to restart my computer to remove it.
When my computer restarted it would get to my desktop and then freeze. I would try again and then it would let me get a little further to get a program open and then it would lock up again. After that it started not even letting me start it up unless I would take the battery out and plug the computer into the wall and it would start back up but then lock up again. I tried to do a system restore and it let me but that didn't help. I figured my only option was to do a full recovery and sweep everything off the hard drive.
Even during that the system would freeze. I finally reconfigured everything and was able to get back to my desktop but it would still freeze if I tried to do anything. Sometimes I would be able to restart the computer with the battery in and sometimes I couldn't. I checked my memory space and I have 50gb left so I should be fine there. I am starting to think I could have some other issues.
What do you think is going on? What should I do?
Thanks for the help.
