maybe your tv set has a default setting for interlaced. go into the setup menu and see if it can be set for 1081i or 720p, and if it can then make the switch.
Hello. I have a question about the screen quality of my HDTV and was hoping someone could help me. I have tried everyone/everything so far.
I have a new Panasonic RP62 Progressive Scan DVD player that is hooked up via new component wires to a new Philips widescreen HDTV (30PW8520). When I play DVDs in Progressive Scan mode I can see faint distortion lines on the right and left side of the screen in the darker areas of the movie. They look like fingers coming into the screen from the sides. There are no magnets on either side of the TV. I have tried many, many things to try to isolate the problem and none have helped:
-Using different component wires
-Hooking up two different Progressive Scan DVD players
-Replacing the TV
The only way I can get rid of the lines is if I switch the DVD player to Interlaced mode (and, of course, inserting the component wires into the ?low-res? input jacks on the back of the TV instead of the ?hi-res? jacks). But then, of course, the picture quality is not as sharp.
Do you know why this might be occurring and how I can correct it? Thanks!
