Help Me Get a Warranty Replacement

by SEANinSoCal / November 24, 2008 4:20 PM PST

I have a Dell laptop that has had a ton of problems. It is still under warranty and Dell has fixed it numerous times but it still seems to have problems. Dell is asking me to send it in for repair yet again now. I want to get it replaced instead of repaired but they refuse to. Any tips on what I can do to get Dell to replace my computer? What symptoms usually result in a replacement and how can I create them?

But keep sending it in. The moment you don't they can bow out of the warranty. KEEP RECORDS of when, where, who and why it's being sent in.

And ask for a replacement machine if need be.

Now that's a bad idea. If you did that you could find your warranty void and Dell putting a note in your file that you are abusing the machine which is not covered by any warranty.

I've having a bad experince with Dell right now refusing to honor or discuss warrantee issues. However I find that you wanting to break your laptop merely creates more problems for folks like me who just want Dell to honor the warrantee.

If Dell has a lemon rule, that's how you get a replacment. If not, then they will repair it as many times as they see fit until they decide it's worth their while to replace. They may or may not decide that.

If your state has a lemon law that applies that may be another way to a replacment.
