1. Yes
2. Yes
That's the way most receivers are designed to work, but you didn't state the model of your Samsung receiver. Try it out, it should work fine.
I have a Sharp 52" TV, a Samsung surround sound system, a PC and a PS3. I currently have dual Radeon 5870s in the PC.
I have the video card connected to the TV via HDMI, the PS3 connected to the TV via HDMI, and the TV connected to the receiver via optical cable.
What I would like to do is connect the PC and PS3 to the receiver with HDMI, and then connect the receiver to the TV also with HDMI. My receiver has 3 HDMI inputs and an HDMI output labelled Monitor. Based on this I have two questions:
1. Can I connect the PC and PS3 to the receiver using the HDMI inputs and then send that to the TV with the HDMI output?
2. If so, can I have the sound come out of the surround sound system instead of the tv speakers and still send the video to the TV?
I appreciate any help you could provide me.
