General discussion

help me chose best camera

Dec 10, 2009 2:11PM PST

Hi ,
I am a bit confused as I have read so many reviews online.

I basically wants the following features:

1) excellent photo quality indoor and outdoors (group, nature sceneries, hills, valleys pics etc).
2) 10 MP or above ( i.e. can be able to make big prints [not often but sometimes] )
2) optical zoom 5x or above
3) wide angle lens
4) no much expensive( around $300 i.e. <=Rs. 20000 )
5) HD movie mode (added advantage though not necessary)

Someone suggested Panasonic TZ11,Samsung wb550 - your opinon on these two

I will prefer to go with Canon, Panasonic, Sony, Olympus etc.

Please help me in chosing the perfect camera within my budget. Thanks.

Two cameras that you can add to your list:

Canon IXUS200 IS (aka SD980 IS)
Sony WX1

I can't comment on the Panasonic TZ11 because that camera is not sold in the USA and I have no information on it.

The Samsung WB550 (aka TL225) showed some problems assembly problems during a recent review.

If you want a Samsung, look at the Samsung SL420.
It has a very sharp lens.

New camera...

Hi,
Thanks for the reply and Camera suggested.

No (not Samsung)I would like to go with Canon, Panasonic, Sony or Fuji.
I forgot to mention that after doing my own survey on internet reviews I had in mind the following cameras, out of which f200 was what I was thinking:

Fuji f200/f70
Canon IXUS110IS
Sony DSC H20 - but not wide angle

Just wanted to know in your opinion which one is best indoor + outdoor performance out of above. I was leaning towards Fuji f70 but read some negatives points by its owners.

Also are there any good digital cameras(with some manual controls) that fit on my criteria.

Thanks..

Thanks for the replies and yes S90 as you suggest is an excellent camera but not within my budget.
(Is TZ6 can also be considered?)

As you suggest f200/f70 is best indoor and all are good for outdoor shoots.

In my budget which are best for both(indoor+oudoor) mode of shooting scenarios, list any three please.
(do they have any manual controls also)

Also which is best for both shooting modes among Fujifilm S1500 and S2000.

Thanks again...
