Question

Help me choose the right build

Dec 11, 2015 2:02PM PST

My current system is outdated. I want the cheapest system, but the conflicting problem is that I care for the best graphics (high standards) and to top it off, I want to be able to buy the same system for my wife (and this while I'm on a tight budget). Knowing I want high performance and want to be able to play my games on high for at least 4-5 years (at 1920x1080 resolution) wich of these layouts should I go for and why? Thanks in advance for your advice:

Choice 1: (the cheap choice)

CPU: Intel core i5-4670k
GPU: MSI Geforce GTX980 Gaming 4Gb GDDR5
MEMORY: G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 1600mhz CL9 16GB
BOARD: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming3
STORAGE: Samsung SM951-NvMe 512GB

Choice 2: (the expensive choice)

CPU: Intel core i7-6700(4.0ghz)
GPU: MSI Geforce GTX980Ti gaming 6GB GDDR5
MEMORY: G.Skill Ripjaws V - DDR4 2666Mhz CL15 16GB
BOARD: Asus Maximus VIII Hero
STORAGE: Samsung 950 pro 512GB

If you believe one is the better choice, you you think something in this list can be better plz let me know.

Clarification Request
2666 memory
Dec 11, 2015 11:02PM PST

Why 2666mhz? I just read online and everyone claims that with the i7-6700 having 2666 memory improves performance a little compared to 2133, maybe they OC'd it who knows..

Just an opinion

In order to run the ram at 2666 you must oc.
I do not oc.
I want the fastest ram the machine supports in native mode.
I will then verify the ram is running at the proper speed.
I will then verify the dual channel feature works.
Then I just leave it alone.

I'm looking for stability.
I don't need crashes and blue screens and having to spend time fussing with the thing.

Answer
Games

The 4-5 yrs is a killer.
Game makers are always pushing the hardware limits.

#2 is a bit more future proof but 4-5 yrs?
The cpu supports 2133 ram.
Why the 2666 ram?.....maybe save a buck.
