Question

HELP ME BUY THE PERFECT MP3 PLAYER

Jul 17, 2012 9:50AM PDT

Hey guys

I'm really hoping to get my mom an mp3 player for her birthday, but I need help picking the best one for her.

I bought her an iPod last year and she's hated it from the start. She needs something that is VERY straightforward to operate. Maybe something with few special features and with a power button (she used to insist that the iPod was poorly designed because it didn't have an "on" button).

Does anyone know of an mp3 player that:

1. Has an on/off button
2. Can store playlists
3. Is easy to navigate (It'd be great if the song could only be selected one way instead of being given the option of via genre, artist, album, etc.)
4. Has a screen that's relatively easy to read (she wears glasses)
5. Is Amazon.com user friendly (I think most are, but she'll be storing and organizing her music on an Amazon cloud)
6. Has limited or no touch screen?

Price and the amount of space on the device are not an issue.

Thanks

The Kindle Fire comes very close. Maybe you'll have to keep searching but my bet it will be some Android thing. My Philips GoGear seems nice and if I install some other app (you look for that, not me!) then it's all about the apps.

How does that work? Can the music be loaded onto the player or is it streaming?

I have that!

I happen to have stuff on the amazon mp3 cloud thing. For the PC I can download or stream so both methods work.

Their perfect player might be some android thing and the perfect app.

Have no DRM. It's the end of the world as we know it. They play on everything I own, streaming or not, screaming or not.

That sounds like a winner,

although I am not really all that much of a music listener anymore.

It seems that happens to most of us.

My son listens to dubstep which I don't call music either.

To say the least...

that was interesting. Some actually have pretty good beat to them. But I doubt I would be willing to pay for them though, hehe.
