Re: wifi doesn't work

In reply to: re:i see

- How exactly did you set up the wifi? The usual Windows XP screens for that aren't asking about gateway and DNS, as far as I remember, only SSID and encryption data.
- Are you using your own private router, or are you trying to connect to a public hotspot?

- That error 0x80072f78, does that occur when you try to use that non-working wireless connection or when using a wired connection?
- How do you manage to connect the forum if nothing works?
- What browser is "it"? Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera?
- How does your original post over wrong applications fit into the picture that you sketch now?

It's all very unclear. Try to write ONE post and CLEARLY define and describe all your problems.

at the moment im on my laptop,im using wifi from someone appartment(not mine)so i think you can call that a hot spot and im on internet explorer.like i said its picking up a signal as it shows that from the bottom of my pda but keeps telling me page cannot be found.

"im using wifi from someone appartment(not mine)"

Then all bets are off. I would not spend any time on this connection as you can't tell what should or should not work.

Try "your connection" or "your router."

Which could be proper.

In reply to: re:i see

Imagine the owner that had the ethernet cable plugged in. They would call in with the same error messages on wifi. Not to shortchange you but to explain why this happens requires a small course in networking. Let's just say it's proper in that setup.

Re: can't download and sync

In reply to: help me

- What do you mean with "sync"?
- What program are you using to download things?
- Are "things" only programs, or do they include pictures, documents, pdf-files?
- Do you have problems downloading patches from Windows update also?
- Can you give an example (detailed link) that we can try?
