The problem started when I decided to restart my computer because it froze on me. After the computer rebooted, I got an error message when it started Windows saying I was running low in resources and that I should end Explorer. All of my programs and files were visible on the desktop; the problem was that I couldn't open any of them. I tried hitting the start button, but the menu was blank. As a last resort, I did the old "ctrl-alt-delete" routine and when the close programs box came up, I saw that I was running over 50 or more programs called "winrar." I tried closing the winrar programs but my computer was unable to do anything because there was not enough resources to do so. There was no other way to shut off the computer other than to press the start up button on the computer tower. I tried to start up Windows again and it went through the same cycle.
Does my computer have a virus? Is there any way I can fix this problem???
I am running an HP Pavillion desktop with Win ME operating system. I don't think the problem is with how much memory I have on my computer because last I checked my C-drive was about 70% free.
Thanks for any kind of help you can give me in advance
