Help! Lost Administrator Account in Windows XP SP2!

Jul 9, 2007 9:57PM PDT

Hi,

The problem I am having is with my sons laptop computer.

He has a Compaq Presario V2000 and his OS is Windows XP Home Edition with SP2. I had set up the computer as me being the Administrator (under my name) and I created a limited user account for my son. Right now the only account that shows up is my sons limited account. But the computer no longer connects to the internet. I didn't loose or forget the password....I remember it clearly.

Here is what I have tried so far:

1) I started the computer in safe mode, but it does not show the administrator account anywhere.

2) I even went into the adinistrative tools, computer management, properties, to access the permissions with no success

3) On restarting I pressed F10 to access the bios system and change the password from there, but it just doesn't see an administrative account anywhere.

4) I tried running various cleaners, anti-spywear, anti-virous, registry cleaner, registry recovery and even password recovery programs with no success. They all deny me because I am not logged on as an administrator.

I know this has to be some kind of virus! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

A link to get in.

Read http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm

Also, some forget about the "classic" login screen and are writing about the "friendly" login screen where their account doesn't show. Press control-alt-del twice on that safe mode boot friendly login screen to go back to CLASSIC login. Now type the user name administrator and the password you set with the above tool.

Saying that Windows Set-up CD-Rom is corrupted!
Jul 10, 2007 12:25AM PDT

Hey Bob...thanks for the reply!

When I ran Windows keys it says that Windows Set-up CD-Rom is corrupted. I need to get another CD and make sure the root directory of the CD-rom has tag files named "win51 or win51ia". Do you have any idea how I can get a hold of those files? I never got a physical Windows XP CD-rom. Everything was pre-installed and came in the computer.

Thanks
Mike

I found the file and created the disk.

I got to create the disk, but when I ran it it said it wouldn't make any changes.

Stupid question!

Do you see any accounts when you boot in the safe mode?

These accounts will be unrestricted accounts.

Use the classic login method with the double control alt delete...
