Question

Help!! iTunes is screwing with my track order!

Jun 10, 2012 7:42AM PDT

I preface this with I HATE iTUNES!! Unforunately, I love my iPod and it forces me to use this lousy program.

iTunes has changed the listed track order of one of my albums. All of the track numbers are correct, but they are sorted as 1, 4, 9, 12, 13, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11. It completely ruins the flow of the album, which is a soundtrack with songs in the same order as they occur in the movie. I have deleted the album, re-entered it, manually re-entered each track number, made futile attempts to drag the songs into their correct place on the list, ranted, raved, and considered throwing my computer in the pool. How can I fix this??? HEEEEEELLLLPPPP!!!!

Any view

It was happening no matter what I changed about the view. I sorted differently, changed views, nothing fixed it until I deleted the album and re-loaded it into iTunes from scratch. It appears that if the songs aren't all loaded at once, it puts them in the order they were added to iTunes instead of track order for some screwed up reason. I got that straightened out, but now it seems to randomly decide now and then that it just doesn't want to play a particular song or album anymore causing me to have to delete and reload those items.

Can I be frank?

Given the issues I encounter with antivirus suites that are now trying to do too much today I can only share I had to toss out a few "privacy protection" features for iTunes to work for me and other folk.

I can't see or know all but I don't see your issue here or at other folk's machines. It's rather peaceful and just works.

Just works? I have to keep re-loading my songs!

I know other people have had whole collections dumped, but it's really no less annoying to find random songs suddenly unplayable or whole albums rendered un-listenable by the program. And frankly, "Frank", that doesn't "just work" in my book. It's one of the laundry list of faults the program has. I don't have the programming skills to come up with a usable replacement to sell to Apple, but someone out there has to have the skills and the sales talent to get Apple to drop their draconian disaster of a program and start being more user friendly!

Was some user that used external drives. Given the mess the Windows world is in it seems odd to expect Apple to fix that!
