Help! Is my XGI Volari V3 graphics card crashing my system?

by mhtr13 / February 27, 2007 8:22 AM PST

Hello, this is my first post ever! Silly
So I built this PC out of parts and its awesome.

3GHZ Pentium 4 HT processor
128 MB XGI Volari V3 Video Card with VolariV3-V1.16.02-WinXP driver
Windows XP Professional
Um.. I don't know what else, just reply if you need more info.

Well this PC crashes and reboots some times. It crashes with no Blue Screen of Death or whatever. Just Turns off suddenly and reboots. I looked at the Event Viewer and it had a quite a bit of errors! I had no idea what was happening! Then for a while it stopped restarting... I'm pretty sure the wires and stuff is all connected. I don't think it's overheating because i have Lavalys Everest Home Edition and it's saying the HD temperature is around 25 degrees celcius. I installed and fired up Halo: Combat Evolved. So I thought with this pretty good graphics card, I would get all the video options enabled and to the max. so i changed resolution of game to 1024 X 768, decals, texture quality, etc. I click apply settings and in about 3-4 seconds...BOOM, shutdown. reboot. startup.

It might sound noobish but I need help and I don't know how to fix this. I think a new graphics card might help..

The exact same thing happened with my Windows laptop. Now, I only have a 64 MB graphics card, but here is the best way to do it. Now you may have to lower your graphics settings just a bit. Make textures medium and turn decals off (you can keep it on, but you will notice a small lag of preformance.) Immediately my laptop's Halo ran fine!!! Otherwise, try to lower most of your settings. Good luck!!!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
