Help in picking computer parts

Jun 24, 2005 8:52AM PDT

I realize I could start a war with this thread, but I need help with my next BUDGET build on a few parts:

Which cpu is good for under $100?

And

Which AGP card is best for under $55? Unless you can find me a cheap 24-pin power supply, do not send PCI-E cards.

Thanks for your help!

Best would be to spend additional 50 for an athlon 64 socket 939. Also, psu are pretty cheap. You can get one for around $50 for 400watts. Plz don't get an agp card for under $55.

why not, many good cards are in that range

i'd suggest something along the lines of the following
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817153006
^ that PSU, should be fine for a budget system like your building

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814270004
^ i'd also suggest that video card
it will outperform the FX 5200, in almost anything

but you could also grab this guy
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814145082

which is an nVidia chipset over an XGI chipset

i'd consider an Athlon64 strongly for your CPU, such as the 3000+ he suggested

any other questions?
