Help in picking a camcorder!

Feb 8, 2006 5:11AM PST

I have been searching for a couple of weeks for a camcorder, but I am not sure which one to get. I would like to stay under $1,000. I will use it mostly to take video of my youth group. Rollerskating, snow tubbing, mini golfing and things like that. I also want to use it for church services, so I need something that takes good video inside. I also want to use it for the family for vacations, parties and thing.
I want something that after I take video I can hook to my computer and edit it, because I want make DVD's for the kids in the youth group.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you want to do selective editing before you make your dvd's I would get a Mini DV camcorder editing software for those is much better than that for DVD camcorders. But if you don't want the hassle of mini dv to dvd then get a dvd camcorder, a good choice is the DCR DVD403 Sony (the price has come way down since sony has introduced the 405 and 505 Camcorder)the 403 is a very good camcorder in DVD format and the gap between mini dv and dvd is getting narrower. Good luck and I hope you find what you need.
