help ie wont access the internet

Jul 15, 2004 10:53PM PDT

my pc no longer acesses the internet(win xp and ie6) it started while on ntl broadband (set top box) I thought it was ntl's service as both the phone and tv also kept dropping out of service so i removed there software. I bought a modem and installed it. same problem the modem puts me online but i am unable to download any web page, however ie will happily read html off of the hdd. i checked ie settings and restored to default then ticked the SSL 2 & 3 & TLS still no joy so I then in add remove programs removed ie then run a bt yahoo installation disk (connected to the internet ok but same problem could not download the registration pages.) Then I went over to freeola and manually configured the connection step by step as per the instructions at
http://freeola.info/supportdocs/connections_winxp_classic.php still to no avail

so now i have absolutly no ideas anyone able to advise
TIA
mike

I read your post and all I can offer is this.

1. Contact your ISP and have them fix you up.
2. If IE is dead, then try IEFIX (find with http://www.google.com)
3. Your post didn't tell if other internet software failed. But for a browser, try Firefox or Mozilla to stay out of trouble.

Search google for "winsockfix.exe"
