If you've got Windows XP (you don't tell) I would start with a System Restore to a time before this unhappy incident.
If that works, it's time to do a few good scans for viruses and other malware. Try an online scan from housecall.antivirus.com and the tools mentioned in http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6122-0.html?forumID=44&threadID=171699&messageID=1896122&tag=
Hope this helps.

i wanted to play my old NFS game. i luckily found my cd but not the case---which had the installation code in it. So i asked my friend for the code--since he had the same games as me--- he wasn't able to find it and he suggested to me that "serials.ws" will give u code since u OWN the game but lost the case. so i went on there i clicked on one of the NFS codes thing and it said, install this active X and pop-up will show you the code. so i did. and all of a sudden, my computer got infected with viruses!!??? and everytime i go online, the homepage reads "you have been affected by a deadly viruse (or something)................." the address of the homepage (in the browser) says " C:/system32" so i went to the address in my comp, and deleted the file and then turned my IE again but the file gets created by itself. But i could still go to any website i want to if i type the address in the browser!!?? its pretty wierd. Also, my wallpaper went blue -- plain blue and i can't change it back. and there are two icons in my taskbar that say "your computer has been infected by a virus". i am pretty sure the icons r not from windows. and there r soooo many pop-ups in my IE even when the pop-up blocker is turned on
wat could be the problem? i really need help As soon as possible!!!!!
if u need any other info just ask me.
thanx in advance
