HELP HELP!!! Panasonic TM700 Video Editing

Just bought a Panasonic TM700. I'm going to buy my first laptop very soon and need to know what specs it should have to be able to edit videos I record? This camera has 1080P 60fps capability and I've read reviews that claim it's a processor power eater when it comes to editing and processing your videos. I'm trying to go bang for the buck cheap but want the laptop to be capable and adequate when it comes to editing. Do I need to forget about 1080P 60fps and record in 1080I? If so, then what will I need in laptop specs? What software is best?

Thanks to all who step up and reply.
