Seagate has the better warranty (3-5yrs). Western Digital is only one. You can purchase an IDE-to-USB converter cable and hook the drive up outside the case. You'll need to get and extension cable for power as well. Five bucks should handle it.

I have a Dell? Dimension? 2350 Series desktop whose HD crashed recently. I'd appreciate suggestions regarding the HD I should pursue to replace the crashed drive.
Also if I wanted to leave the crashed drive in place (so that I can try to recover files from it) do you have any HD recommendations that would allow my origional drive to remain in place. I looked under the hood and don't see any bay's avail for a HD...I do have an expansion slot open.
