Help! Graphical glitch!

by chrisliphart / October 17, 2007 6:33 AM PDT

I have no clue what happened, but I noticed a few weeks ago after a failed Ubuntu install (installer froze while resizing my partition, but I fixed that) that my arrows, checkboxes, and whatnot looked weird. I didn't realize the extent of the damage until I booted into safe mode to defrag my external USB harddrive today. With no visual style, this is what everything looks like (glitches circled in red):

I am running XP Pro SP2 with all my updates. Anyone have any ideas? While the glitch does seem to just be visual, it is quite annoying; it sometimes strips the visual style randomly from a program or dialog box.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
