help for simply accounting

Apr 18, 2007 9:27AM PDT

I need some help for 2 problems i am having with my simply accounting. I am using the xp operating system;
1) we had a virus, had to restore my simply accounting, and now when i go to open the software i receive an error saying that i am not authorized to access "c:\Program Files\Winsim\winsim.ini", but then immediately goes to the screen when you choose whether to open an existing company etc, how do i fix this?

Also: My friend who was helping me entered the wrong fiscal year for year end...how do we fix that?
thanks,

1. The Winsim.ini file: can you open it in Notepad? And can you File>Save it again? Make a backup copy before you try to save it, so you can always go back to what it was.

2. Wrong fiscal year at year end. That could be a big problem, but it depends on the details of how they programmed the program. So better turn to the simply accounting helpdesk.
If I were them, I probably would say "go back to the last backup before you made this mistake". And if you don't have such a backup, I'd probably say "Then start all over with a new database for 2007". But they might have much better help in store for you.

Wrong fiscal year

Did you get a fix to undo the wrong fiscal year end entry?
We have the same problem, and can't seem to restore from back-up.

I need HELP also :(

It is different than the question above. All of a sudden when I click on the company I want to open it says "Other users are currently working with this company. You may open company up to multi-user or wait till they are finished"
So If anyone can help with this problem that would be awesome..

I'd start with restoring ...

the latest backup.

simple?

I have 2005 version, if that makes a difference...I have to find where I put the back up because I used the ones that are on the computer but they aren't current. Do you happen to know why this is happening?

Things to try:

1. Reboot and be sure you're the only user on the machine.
2. If the message persists, download free FILEMON and see if the database isn't being accessed by some hidden program.
3. Uninstall and reininstall the program.
4. See if this message comes up with an surely uncorrupted database from your backup.
5. Call their helpdesk.
