Help! Eee PC or similar for 10 year old?

I am looking to buy my 10 year old daughter and her 11 year old brother notebooks for Christmas. As inexpensive as possible (under $500). I saw those Eee PC's in Best Buy and thought, "PERFECT!" But before we (my wife and I) take the plunge on these I wanted to get some opinions.

Basically all they will do with them is surf the net over our home wireless network. Play a few online games (no gaming via disc or anything like that). They may do a little word processing but nothing major. Probably only use the text editor.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

matt

So far 2 out of 3.

1. surf the net over our home wireless network.
2. Play a few online games (no gaming via disc or anything like that).
3. They may do a little word processing

Item 2 is where you need to test if said game works or not. I have no doubt that items 1 and 3 are covered.

HP too?

Thanks!

They play games on Cartoon Network or Disney. Mostly flash type games so I am sure that they will likely be okay. I will get it with XP.

I have been shopping around thought and HP has a nice little portable too.

Just my thought here.

Try it at some shop. So far I like the Atom CPU powered units.
