Question

Help Download App is driving me mad

Nov 26, 2013 2:52AM PST

I downloaded Download App sucessfully & it's running OK but it keeps trying to reinstall about every 10 minutes & nothing I do seems to stop it. How do I find & kill the auto-install I've tried removing the programme but it still kept trying toi reinstall. It's very annoying to say the least

Answer
I'm guessing this is what replaced some software updater.

I'm left to guess what this app is. But given the past issues with these updater apps my advice is to uninstall it.

Yes it's CNETS's own updater. Uninstalling it doesn't work (as I said) it just reinstalls (or try's to reinstall itself) that's the problem how do you get rid of the CNET Download App

Please try the following...

It sounds like you are seeing the upgrade notification that wants to switch you over from TechTracker to the Download App; the latter program has replaced TechTracker.

You should be able to stop the notification from reappearing by uninstalling TechTracker, per the instructions on this page:

http://t.cnet.com/1aAAuXi

Please be sure to reboot your machine after uninstalling TechTracker, and that should ensure that the notification to install the Download App stops appearing.

If it does not, please let us know by submitting a message through the support form:
