Help! DIY External Hard Drive is killing me!

Sep 21, 2006 11:24AM PDT

Ok... i recently bought a Seagate Barracuda 320 gig internal perpendicular-write hard drive and a Smart Drive 3.5 inch external enclosure. I hooked it all up as i was instructed, but even though it registers as a "USB Mass Storage Unit" and USB to IDE drive, the hard drive doesn't appear in "my computer". The same happens when i plug it directly into my pc's IDE cables... it reads it as the primary slave drive in the BIOS, but it still doesn't appear in "my computer".

What do i do???
