Help decide which is the best

by My2Angels / November 21, 2005 5:03 PM PST

I'm havin a hard time deciding which phone to purchase; for one- I'm very picky and almost never satisfied, two- I've not heard much about either phone to make an accurate decision.

The two phones in quesion are

Motorola V551 vs Sony Ericsson Z520a

I want a phone that is reliable and won't drop calls; that's just a pain in the rump for me, and I don't wanna deal with dropped calls and tryin to explain to people what happened and why I cut them off. I want a phone that have a nice talk time because boy oh boy do I need that when I talk to my fiance in New York. (I love you Baby)

Please help!!!

The phone needs to be something that Cingular offers and has the best price.. a phone that has it all.

Any advice is accepted, thank you.

V551 vs. Z520a

In reply to: Hi My2Angels,

I just picked up a Z520a today, so I haven't used it much. I have used a V551 and I have a V635 that uses the same menu system. I think I prefer the V551, for a couple of reasons. It feels much more robust and I think the sound is a bit better. The Z520a is very stylish, but I don't like the menu system at all - not intuitive. It has cute little cartoony pictures for the main menu - maybe nice if you're 14, but not for me. I haven't pursued changing the menu display, so it may be possible. Probably not fair to judge it too harshly with so little use, but I am taking it back tomorrow to swap for a 551.

I do not like Motorola products and would suggest you look into LG phone products. Keep doing your research and ask what the cell phone provider what they will do if you don't like the phone you pick (assumes you get the phone from them).

moto v551

After nine months of use of two v551 (the wife unit and I) would not reccomend it. Problems: worthless speaker phone, numberous droup-outs, poor button design-you'll find yourself accidently hitting the browser button frequently, occuring extra cost for internet access, the ring volume for this phone is the lowest I've ever encountered-in a noisy environment, i.e., car you won't hear the phone ring even at max volume. Can't comment on video-don't use.

Z520 - My Experience
by lewey_1011 / November 29, 2005 3:13 AM PST

Well....I would say, I'm a former Motorola user....and I'm so glad that I picked a different company for my phone! I had the same problems with my Moto that someone else responded to under your question...I too had many dropped calls..the darn speaker/rings are so can't hear it ring in the car, etc....So...I personally would stay away from Moto....That is just my opinion....

Now...on too the is a "GREAT" phone! I give it a 9.5 out of 10! The call quality is awesome....Reception/signal strength...awesome....I've yet to have a "dropped" call whereas my Moto dropped calls alot! Anyway...I've said alot about this phone in other posts on here....just do a search in all cnet forums for z520 and read what is said....also...check out another website....(I submitted a review there....) it is and search for on user reviews....and read away!

Overall...this phone has got to be Cingular's best phone for the money! Heck, it may be the best phone altogether....that is not a "PDA" phone, etc....

I tried BOTH
by My2Angels / November 29, 2005 7:45 PM PST

Here's my summary

Ok, so I tried the Motorola V551 right... sucked! No one could hear me decent, they said I sounded far away and kind of muffled. Returned it... Tried the Sony Z520a right... yet again, sucked! They could hear me but I couldn't hear THEM! AND the reception was terrible.. the slightest interference would make the call all choppy and chit. I'm so frustrated at this moment with Cingular I'm about to go back to Sprint! Their phones and service ROCKED!

Now I'm debating if I should purchase the Moto Razr... any input on this or am I just to damn picky.. after all, I should be picky, I spend in the upwards of 6 + hours on my cell a day working and / or not working.

So.... Moto Razr ?? Yes / No?

If anyone knows how it sounds (others hearing you and your earpiece) is it clear and crisp, not sounding like you're speaking into a paperbag? Help please!!!

I recently picked up the Moto razr, and had some troubles with the camera. However i found the speaker phone to work very nicely, and i can hear people clearly. Itd be best to try it out though.

OMG... Yes, I did purchase the Razr and You know, it's possibly the best phone I've had thus far!! Everything about the Razr is exceptional, it's a HUGE plus and the fact that I'm actually satisfied with a phone is like a miracle. lol Now this means I can send pics that don't look messed up, and vid clips hehe. Oh how the guys will love this

THANKS to you all for your input and a special thank you for those who suggested the Razr.... Merry Christmas to all of you, and a Wonderful New Year!!!!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
