Help! Connecting Two DVD Recorders

by timandanita / October 22, 2007 3:54 AM PDT

I have a cable box hooked up to my Hitachi LCD TV with a DVD recorder.
I'm attempting to hook up a second DVD recorder to the first so I can burn shows I've recorded from one DVD to another.

I have a basic cable box which receives cable from my wall jack to the box via a coax cable. My box is then hooked up to my Hitachi 42HDS69 plasma TV via a r-w-y cable and an HDMI cable.

I then have a coax coming from my RF out on my cable box to my antenna in on my first DVD recorder. I then have a r-w-y cable from my line out on my first DVD recorder into the input 2 on my TV.

Now, I have NO idea how to connect my second DVD recorder to I can record output from my first DVD recorder! Please help!

What other output does dvd1 have?
by ahtoi / October 22, 2007 8:52 AM PDT

What input/s does dvd2 have and do you intend to use dvd2 to record other show or is it strictly for recording what comes out of dvd1?

Thanks for helping!

DVD1 has one other output that is a red, white and S-video.
It also has a red, blue, green component out.
It also has an ANT out.

DVD2 has a red, white, yellow AV in
It also has a ANT in.

And yes, I only intend to use DVD2 to record what is coming out of DVD1.

I feel like I've tried every possible combination of hook ups, so any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Does the TV have component in connection?

If it does then hook dvd1 component to the tv instead of R_W_Y then connect the R_W_Y to dvd2. Give that a try and see if that would work or not.

so instead of going from my tv to r-w-y on my dvd1, go from tv to component out on my dvd1?

Component is better than composite (wry) anyway. Hopefully this will work; beside, you don't have much choice anyway. Composite is all you got on dvd2.

You can certainly try with the s-video and see; or maybe a video switch if all else failed.
