Help connecting to Rogers network

Mar 6, 2007 1:51AM PST

By some fortunate circumstance I have free internet service from Rogers.

My problem is I have picked up a Rogers approved cable modem Motorola SB5101 but when I connect it I don't get an IP address. From what I understand I need to register the MAC address of the router onto their network. Does anyone know a way I can do this?

Can I spoof another mac address? If so when both modems are connected to their network will that create a conflict?

Any thoughts or help on this would be much appreciated.

remember the internet access is free so there is no account to associate the mac address too, and I can't associate it to another account as you can't have two modems on one account so that is why I was looking at spoofing a mac address. Which leads me to my concern when both modems are on the network will there be a problem.

it's free, you're not the only person in that situation, call them up and ask.

or is it only free to Rogers customers?
