Help choosing processor and laptop for programming use

Hello,
I need to buy laptop to use it for programing and to access databases. I will be using Visual studio, Java, and Sql. I am very confused on choosing the processor models. Please advise me on the appropriate processor model meeting my requirement and also any laptop models you would suggest me. I am looking anything that is below $1000 range.

I'd take another look at the usual Lenovo y50 with it's i7 and GPU offerings.
