Help choosing between two labtops

Nov 3, 2009 8:32AM PST

Hi, I pretty much narrowed it down to two laptops, the HP Pavilion DV7-3080US and the TOSHIBA Qosmio X505-Q830 NoteBook. I was just wondering which one people thought was better. They are pretty similar but I wasn't sure which brand is better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Get out there and look at the keyboards. These differ in one is rather slick on the keytops and some find that annoying.

You are right these are all too similar. I use the lightscribe so for me that's a win for me.

The Toshiba has a little better resolution 1680x945 to 1600x900 of HP. The HP comes with 6 gig of ram and a larger slower HD in 500 gig 5400RPM and the Toshiba has 320 gig 7200 rpm. Those are the basic differences. Both laptops are bad for fingerprints so that could be an issue with both.

Thanks alot for the advice, I don't really care about the fingerprint issue. I was basically wondering which one better and more reliable. I am going to be mostly using it for games and watching movies and doing some video editing.

Games tend to lower the lifespan of laptops.

Even today I strongly suggest gamers stick to desktops and consoles. Otherwise you find people upset over 2 year life spans.

The game changes so quickly in the the gaming rig world and laptops just aren't as easily-customizable. That's an incredibly valid point when looking at a new rig for gaming.
