Help choosing a new camera

by patbollin / August 4, 2006 8:45 AM PDT

Hello, I have been looking for a digital camera for quite a while.
I have narrowed it down to a relatively lareg list

1. SD600
2. A620

1. DMC-FX01
2. DMC-FX07 (not yet released)

1. F30

1. DSC-T9
2. DSC-T30
3. DSC-W70

1. EX-Z850

My budget is $350 and I want to use it in a variety of situations as I will be taking it to college with me. I don't plan on using it for video, but I guess I am most concerned with one that is very small and has great image quality. Any recommendations from the list above? Thanks!!!!

Your list of cameras is just about the cream of the crop for that price range.

Here is a look at the specifications side-by-side:
The Panasonic FX07 is not included because it is not in their data-base yet.

Any of the cameras will do, but you need to review your needs and eliminate a few from the list.

After looking at your link, which I thank you very much for, I have decided on the Casio EX-Z850. I wanted a viewfinder, which is somehting the other choices didnt have. Though it lacks image stabilization, an option that made the Panasonic's and Sony DSC-T9 very likeable, I think that it is the best overall value. If only they still have the EX-Z750 for a lower price. That seems to be the hottest compact out there.
