help choosing a graphic card

my young cousin has a old HP Envy and i want upgrade his graphics card so he can play a few games from my steam library instead of having to buy them,
his pc specs are
i7 3770 3rd gen
12gb ddr3 ram
2tb hdd
nvidia geforce gt 630
some pegatron motherboard
i want to get him maybe a gtx 960 but i dont know if it would work but i want help choosing a good but not to expensive GPU, thanks for any help

oh i was going to get the 960 because someone was locally selling one for $120, 1050 ti bout $190-210 so i would have to wait

so still rip, locally near me some one selling a gigabite 1050 2gb for $80, 770 superclocked for $100 but if i talk about it with the seller he'll most likely lower it a bit more and the msi 960 2b for $120 :/

You need to know what size psu is in the nephew's machine and also how much space the pci-e slot has around it.

Some cards can be quite large.

Then there is your budget and if your shopping new or used.

I'd shop in the gtx 10xx series.

well the 1050 is still brand new, the 960 was opened but slightly used and never overclocked(supposedly) and 770 has been used for quite a while but still looks pretty good. i thing his psu is somewhere 400-500 watts, and bout 2-3 pci-e slots

screw it ill go with 770, see if can get it for bout $80. Well if doesnt work for his pc ill keep it and see if i do a small build with it

You risk the issues I only gave a passing link to. I see no grief in the 9xx and 1xxx models but going back to the 7xx line? Prepare for trouble, make it double as the power supply has to be up to the task.

Havent watched pokemon in a long time, yea i watched a few of the videos from the earlier link, i have a few 500-600 watts lying around so ill take one just in case
