Question

help cant boot vista after Windows Accelerator Utility

Jun 17, 2011 3:38AM PDT

The pop up "Microsoft Windows" logo is on the scanner program and told us we were infected and when we ignored the pay now to fix option another pop up repeatedly said to close down computer ands restart to fix errors. It was so bad we just powered off comp and now....vista won't boot. What can we do for free first? And What program can I install and Run from the command line if I need to buy one? (from win rec/vista rec) as it's my only access.,

Find your system recovery media and go back to factory conditions would certainly help.

Using startup repair from a regular Vista install DVD might help also. If it doesn't it might be time for a clean install using this same DVD.

You'll lose what you didn't backup, unless you install of a new disk or copy your files first to another hard disk using some other PC or OS.

I was able to get assistance using the free Malwarebytes.com antimalware free program. They even had pictures of the fake "windows accelerator utility" the registry keys it had altered (root) Really tech for me but easy enough. Thanks to you I have finally made my vista backup cds!!!! I truly was lost without them/no logon. I had to use another computer to research help and contact you. Hopefully I get a good defender program! TY for all your time and replying to me at all.
