connector and trying the mouse in that one. This allows you to try it with a known working connection. If the mouse still isn't detected, it's either bad or not compatible with your machine. It should be well known that the USB to PS2 adapters don't work will all USB mice.
Got an old Logitech optical mouse that's gone bad, but nothing happens when I plug the new one in.
The old (white) one has the USB plug, but it goes through an adapter to change it to the round plug for the mouse.
I tried plugging the new one into the adapter, but nothing. Then I tried plugging the new one into one of the USB slots on the front (all the USB slots in the back are taken.
I even tried using a very old type mouse that has the round plug. Still nothing.
I have a Gateway FX 400 X, with WinXP
Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated
