System Volume Information is used by System Restore to keep all your restore points.
Since it is infected with a virus you cna simply disable System Restore which will remove all restore points.
Then rescan with your AV as well as do an online virus scan.
Once the scans found no more viruses you can turn System Restore back on.
To turn on/off system restore:
Right-click My Computer | Properties | System Restore tab and make your changes.
Hi, I run XP Home edition. I have a virus in my system volume information restore it says to delete the file but I can not find it. I called Telus (high speed phone company) and Compaq but they can not tell me how. Apparently, it is a file that the computer needs, it cannot be disinfected either. So do you have any ideas how to fix it? It has been here for a long time now and the message keeps comming up, I don't know what to do. Thanks.
