So with just 2 laptops, why not the usual router from the store and see how it goes. Be sure to place the router in the room where the laptops are used the most then try the router in the room towards the area that didn't get coverage. I've see WiFi work in a metal building but there was a door and it was just in the next room and it all worked out.
But today, there is so little difference in the top selling models that I rarely look too hard are this anymore.

I went with many models over the years and this year I put in a Netgear wndr3800 which had a feature to share a memory stick or drive.

I need help choosing hardware for a home wi-fi setup, about which I know nothing. My budget is $200. The home is a 1500 square foot trailer, so there's metal in the walls. I have two Dell Studio 14 laptops, Verizon broadband and a Westell Model 6100 modem.
What do I need to buy?
Thanks.
