Help! Backup file deleted

Hi! I recently reinstalled XP but backed up my documents using the Windows backup utility prior to installing the new OS. Today while attempting to restore my files to the new system, I accidentally unplugged the wires connecting my external drive (there the backup was located) to the PC. Now, the file no longer appears in the drive.

Is there any way to recover this file? Could it be deleted?

If you can't lose them, try http://www.drivesavers.com

If you want to try DIY recovery, look up Zero Assumption Recovery and GETDATABACK.
