Help ASAP with Java Byte Verify

by xcks / October 15, 2004 8:32 PM PDT

I had a pop up stateing my computer is infected with the JS/PSYME Virus.
Run AVG to remove the infection.
JAVA BYTE VERIFY

So I ran AVG and it says it cannot remove this file nor can it contain it in the vault.

So... now what do I do?
Is there some reason why it cant be removed? Also says it has an object or is an object? Located in Temp Internet files.

Thanks for a speedy reply (if possible) as I dont want to reboot or log off until I take some action.

I thought about that however being on dial up (even though an active x for housecall is already on my pc) that would take about .....? Im guessing about an hour an 1/2 and if it was to say the same thing as AVG.
I can "verify" <-lol, I wouldnt be pleased.

Thanks!

Do you want to get rid of the virus or not?

Look in AVG for the path to where the Virus is located in the TEMP folder and you can manually delete it in most cases.

If it is in use you can boot into Safe Mode and then delete it.

Are your files backeup?
A clean install may be the last resort.

I wrote down the original location, ran a disk clean up, also did a start> run> %temp% and deleted everything in that folder.
IE deleted all cookies and temp internet files.
Housecall is @ 54% going on almost an hour now.
Hope all of this will fix the problem.

Thanks!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
