Help, address book gone

by Themisive / July 22, 2005 4:58 AM PDT

I use MS Office XP, with Outlook as my primary e-mail client. Unfortunately I can't use my address book - the one in Outlook Express is OK but that's used for different addresses - not only can I not use it as a shortcut to various e-mail adresses, I haven't lost them, they're all in the contacts folder, I cannot put any in there at all!

I normally back up all data on a regular basis anyway, but some time ago, I did this just before the system went down, necessitating a complete re-format and re-install, and possibly this address book was lost then.

I use Outlook Express as a secondary client, as my ISP offers ''disposable'' e-mail addresses, and I use OE to send these, but Outlook has better features and so is my main client.

Thanks Gordon, I did as you suggested, managed to find a knowledgebase article, folowed instructions and presto, it's working again. Fortunately I hadn't lost the entries, as they were all in the Contacts folder, just that some of the very useful features of the address book weren't working. I'm definitely going to make a bakup of these KB items, so I do have some reference in future.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
