Help Ad-Aware 2007 Holystic-Dialer

by shylaugh / June 11, 2007 5:40 AM PDT

Just did an update and ran a scan and Ad-Aware 2007 found Holystic-Dialer, Malware TAI 5 Item ID 300009973 Value Root: HKU Path: S-1-5-21-160446659-598822930-4251638450-1006/software/local appwizare-generated app. I use PC-Cillin security suite 2006, spyware guard, AVG Anti-spyware (free was ewido), spybot search & destroy (free). I also have comcast. I placed this in quarantine but really don't think I have it as no other program found it. Do you suggest I go back to the other version of Ad-Aware beings I don't know that much about this kind of stuff. Thank you for helping you guys have always saved me. Sandra

We will fix this problem in the next definition file update.

Your "log file" from your scan was really helpful for us.

software\local appwizard-generated applications\

This key is frequently targetted by the Holystic Dialler and other malware, however I recommend you to keep the key on your system until we
released a new definition file.

Thanks again.

I am going to keep mine until Lavasoft put out a new definition then rescan and see what happens

It's too late

In reply to: Lastest from Lavasoft

I researched it and it was called a porn dialer and/or 900 number dialer. I have DSL so I don't know how that would work.

I removed it.

In the past two years, with using these tools

C W Shredder
Spybot Search & Destroy
AVG Anti-Spyware
Spyware Blaster
Zone Alarm

Ad-Aware SE has almost never found anything. When I ran it without the other tools, it would find something. The people where I work ONLY run Ad-Aware and virus protection, no other tools.

I would keep in in quarentine and/or delete it.

I agree Holystic-dialer

In reply to: It's too late

is a 900/porn dialer

However it is no where's in my system Scanned and searched all files and folders

What it points to is a legitimate registry key according to Microsoft

I have gotten in deep water by deleting files that were legitimate

Thanks for the info

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
