Help about my PS2

Dec 13, 2006 4:32AM PST

I have a PS2 which is the 50000 model. I'm having trouble right no because it wont read any games. Whenever I try to load a game, you will hear a clicking sound or something like that. I already consulted a technician and they say that the culprit is the IC and the lens. Now fixing the lens and the IC is like buying a new unit. They also told me that it is the common error of the 50000 model wherein the lens and IC tends to get damaged easily. Is this true? Please help me make a decision. Thanks in advance.

Was the technician from sony.
I had disk reading problems. They fixed it for free... but that was 2-3 years ago... ( DRE disk read error)
My ps2 was a lauch system....
Other wise you can buy replament drives on Ebay.

Actually, I was looking for having it fixed instead of buying a new one but the technician said that 50000 model can get easily damaged specially with regards to the lens and IC. That's why im very hesitant whether I would buy 1 or not.
