what you need is a reciever. you cant just hook up your speakers to your dvd player because it doesnt have enough juice to power your them. The reciever is the heart of the 5.1 system. It decodes the sound from your dvd player and sends the sound to your speakers
Please can anyone out there help me. I have a Philips dvdr610 dvd recorder and I have just bought a 5.1 speaker system to use with it. I have connected all the speakers to the sub woofer and connected the dvd via the Audio L/R connections on the reverse of the dvd.
When I play cd's and dvd's I only get sound through the sub woofer and the centre speaker.
The sub woofer also has a 5.1 input on the back but it has space for six connectors and I don't know how that would connect to my dvd. This only has Audio L/R and coaxial.
I have read all of the instruction manuals twice and still can't work it out. Please help!!!!
P.S. the speakers are Ozaki Homme HM050.
