HELP!!!!

My OS is windows xp when i have my computer turned on and the screen saver is up for a couple hours and i go to get on my computer when the main screen pops up the start tool bar goes to the top of the screen and my computer freezes so i have to restart it so i took off my screen saver to see if that was the problem but that didnt work it does the same thing even when my monitor goes into save mode or whatever i was wondering if anybody new how you could fix this problem if so please reply thankyou for your time.

don't handle power saving options (like standby) not too well.

Try to put the machine in standby yourself from the Start-button. Or edit the power saving options in Configuration Panel to not enter standby.
